Tips to help you enjoy your Nia experience:
EXPRESS YOURSELF: This is your time to let go! Be jazzy, creative, sensual, flashy and original. YOU choose to ENERGIZE the moves YOUR way. Turn on ALL 75 trillion cells in your body and DANCE! Avoiding habitual, mechanical, repetitive movements will allow you to receive the most benefits. Think less to feel more. Most of ALL be yourself and have FUN!
TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF: Allow the 7,000 nerve endings in your feet to help you move in safe and efficient ways from the ground up. Rest into your feet and push down to rise up. Let your feet BREATHE.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY: Respond to even the smallest sign of discomfort. Avoid feeling breathless and fatigued by adjusting what you do and how you do it to achieve harmony and balance. Always move within YOUR comfort zone to feed your body nourishing, loving, healing energy.
SEEK PLEASURE AND EASE: Never force a motion. Start out slow to capture the rhythm of the music in your feet and legs. Then add your core, arms, hands and head when YOU are ready. Vary the level of intensity and respond with compassion to your body’s needs.
USE YOUR BREATH AND VOICE: YOUR voice can help you relax, heal, gain strength in your core, release emotions and enliven your spirit. Sounding can also assist your physical body in naturally and organically correcting and eliminating imbalances that cause illness and pain.
PROTECT YOUR KNEES: When you lower your body, let the buttocks naturally move back and behind you. Avoid pushing your knees to far in front by imagining you are going to sit down. Always keep you feet, knees and hips pointing in the same direction.
MOVE YOUR ARMS AND HANDS: Generate arm movements by engaging your hands. Keep your fingers, wrists, elbows and shoulder joints relaxed to obtain more mobility, flexibility, power and grace.
LOVE YOUR BODY: Turn off inner critical dialogue. Focus on YOUR strengths to gain confidence and self-acceptance. Enjoy, celebrate, explore, play, love and appreciate your unique body and savor how good it feels to move your body’s way.
